Petition Initiative
Before introducing any new curricula, school boards must see enough demonstrated interest from the parents and student body. We believe that there IS widespread support for Chinese programs in our schools that has not had a suitable platform for expression yet. Thus, we have started a petition of students and parents from all over Washington state who are interested in bringing Chinese to their schools. So far, we have acquired 7+ pages of signatures from supportive students and parents.
These past few years, American schools and government officials are growing increasingly concerned by the lack of expertise in a language considered crucial to national prosperity and security. Charles Kolb (President of the Committee for Economic Development) said, “Our nation's schools are locked in a time warp. By ignoring critical languages such as Chinese and the essential cultural knowledge needed to succeed, our school systems are out of step with new global realities.” (read more)
