Sammamish Days 2010
WACE members proudly hosted a "China Booth" at Sammamish Days in 2010. It was a hit with both parents and children. Everyone expressed their amazement at seeing people with Beijing Opera face-paint walking around!
The booth was comprised of 3 stations: 1 display table with unique, authentic Chinese artifacts and a poster explaining some of China's extraordinary history, 1 arts n' crafts table with traditional Chinese paper-cutting and calligraphy activities, and 1 fun n' games table with the Chopsticks Challenge, Tongue-twister Challenge, Guess-the-Character Challenge, and face-painting. See photo gallery below.
We also acquired 3 pages of parent/student signatures for our petition to bring Chinese language programs into our schools. Our Chinese Program Initiative captured the attention of the local press, and we were featured in an article in the Sammamish Review shortly afterwards. Click here to read the full article.
